Steven Brunelle, New Paintings
April 9th 2022 - July 2nd 2022
Open: Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm
“His working method was to commit to each mark he made, slowly and constantly moving the painting forward by adding new shapes and colours, creating more density and intensity within the central image as the painting develops.” – John Hartman
Short Film to accompany the exhibit, created by Alec Jordan

“The central image is painted in outline with black paint, understanding that the final image will float on the white space of the canvas. Different story elements are then painted in strong colour into the centre of the overall image, as they occur to him. As viewers we intuit that there is a story being told in each painting, but we are left on our own to float through each one, making our own discoveries”. – John Hartman
